Molalla River Schools' tutors are ethical, committed, and patient licensed educators who understand the impact they can have on our students' success by providing them individualized assistance when they are unable to be present in their classroom(s) for a variety of reasons.

Job Title: Tutors (Licensed)
Reports To: Principal and/or designee
Pay Grade: Curriculum/Tutoring Rate - $41.17/Hour
30 Minutes of preparation time is provided for every 5 hours of tutoring.
Work Calendar: Extra Duty – Days & Hours to be coordinated with Principal
JOB GOAL: The goal of Molalla River School District’s tutors is to provide individualized assistance to elementary or secondary students who may be unable to attend school in accordance with the academic calendar for a variety of reasons. Tutoring is generally offered for up to five hours per week by licensed teachers in various subject areas such as Literacy, English/Language Arts, Math, Science, and Social Studies.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Oregon TSPC teaching license.
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance (included in TSPC license approval process)
- Demonstrated academic competence in the subject area(s).
- Excellent communication skills to adapt and deliver information based on the student’s individual needs and academic abilities.
- Patience, flexibility, consistency and dependability.
- Ability to provide tutoring services in a positive manner.
- Availability and ability to provide tutoring services at alternate locations such as the public library, district office, or in the student’s home, depending on individual circumstances.
Tutors are selected from an approved list by the assigning administrator to work directly with the assigned student(s) to:
- Sustain a level of academic progress and achievement while they are unable to attend school.
- Assist them in gaining a better understanding of concepts being taught in the classroom.
- Guide them in completing assignments.
- Review materials that have been provided by the teacher of record and assist students in successfully preparing for formative and summative assessments and their return to the classroom, if applicable.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to student learning, growth and advancement.
- Assess learning needs and skill areas requiring improvement.
- Collaborate effectively with students, teachers, parents and caregivers to support student’s academic progress.
- Respond to students’ questions related to overall class material or regarding specific class assignments.
- Monitor students’ academic progress data.
