Wage range based on 2020-21 wage schedule.  The 2021-22 wage schedule is to be determined.


JOB GOAL:  Provide interpretation and translation services in Spanish to the Molalla River School District.  Schedule, coordinate and perform such services.


ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

  1. High School Diploma or equivalent
  2. 18 years of age or older
  3. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and In writing) with students and staff
  4. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
  5. Ability to maintain confidentiality
  6. Ability to speak, read and write fluently in Spanish as demonstrated by an assessment of the district’s choosing
  7. Ability to coordinate Spanish interpretation and translation requests, and complete or assign the work
  8. Ability to work effectively in an environment which can be both physically and emotionally fatiguing; perform physically demanding requirements of the job
  9. Ability to establish positive relationships with the Spanish language community
  10. Ability to possess and maintain a valid First Aid card including HIV training
  11. Ability to type accurately; operate standard office equipment such as computer, copier, and word    processor; and operate the interpretation system
  12. Perform physical requirements which may include:
    Moderate degree of physical stamina
    Frequent standing, walking, bending

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.


1.  Ability to maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students and staff

2.  Participate in in-service programs as assigned

3.  Process all requests for interpretation and translation.  Assign an appropriate staff member to perform the work

4.  Keep a library of translated documents.  Include in the library appropriate documents from TransACT

5.  Coordinate work with independent contractors and vendors (Language link)

6.  Call Spanish-language parents as requested by administrators, teachers and other school employees

7.  Assist with assessments including the English Language Proficiency Assessment (ELPA); Woodcock-Munoz Language Survey, Revised; and district, state and federal assessments

8.  Will work flexible hours as needed. 

9. Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration.



  1. Possess and maintain a valid First Aid card, if required only
  2. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  3. Molalla River School District requires all staff to be fully vaccinated effective October 18, 2021 unless a religious or medical exception is approved.  New employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the time of hire.
