JOB GOALS:

  1. Create a classroom environment which is safe and conducive to learning.
  2. Implement instructional strategies and programs which meet the needs of a diverse student population.
  3. Assist students in the acquisition of skills, knowledge and attitudes related to employment in the professional/technical occupations.
  4. Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Holds a valid Oregon Secondary Teaching license with the appropriate endorsements prior to the first day of work.
  2. Possesses knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of adolescents.
  3. Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to implement best instructional and assessment practices.
  4. Possesses knowledge of effective behavior management methods.
  5. Possesses functional computer literacy and knowledge of how technology can assist instruction.
  6. Maintains satisfactory attendance as defined in District policy and regulations.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Provides instruction utilizing a course of study adopted by the Board of Education and appropriate curriculum publications as guidelines in teaching individual course content.
  2. Teaches occupational knowledge and skills in one or more courses in, building construction, business education, and drafting/CAD to secondary students.
  3. In preparation for instruction, addresses both short- and long-term learning goals. Shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor.
  4. Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time.
  5. Designs or selects and uses planned sequences of instruction for the development of occupational skills and knowledge.
  6. Coordinates the placement, supervision, and evaluation of student occupational experience programs as assigned.
  7. Demonstrates materials, equipment, tools, and processes, using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.
  8. Uses a variety of formal and informal assessments to monitor student progress and achievement of the instructional objectives.
  9. Uses a grading system that is consistent, fair and supportable.
  10. Ensures that materials and equipment are properly used, maintained and stored, and that inventory records are accurate and current.
  11. Prepares and maintains accurate and complete records as required by law and district policy.
  12. Maintains professional confidentiality concerning individual student data and achievement.
  13. Communicates to students and parents the level of student achievement and progress towards established classroom, and district standards.
  14. Maintains professional competence through inservice education activities provided by the District and/or in self-selected professional growth activities.
  15. Works constructively with colleagues and others for the purpose of improving the quality of a student's behavior and academic success.
  16. Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning environment. Notifies and involves parents/guardians regarding a student's behavior as outlined in school and District policies.
  17. Takes all reasonable precautions to provide a safe, secure learning environment.
  18. Encourages parents to volunteer and provides them with constructive tasks to perform.
  19. Maintains a high level of professional integrity by adhering to the Teacher Standards and Practices requirements for an Ethical Educator, (as written in the Staff Handbook) as well as Board Policy and State Law.
  20. Participates in various meetings (e.g. staff, team, parent conferences, in-service training, etc.) for the purpose of receiving and/or providing information, or sharing expertise.

 ADDITIONAL CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
