JOB GOAL:
- Create a classroom environment which is safe and conducive to learning.
- Implement instructional strategies and program that meet the needs of a diverse student population.
- Assist students in the acquisition of skills and knowledge in computers and other technology necessary for functioning as successful adults.
- Develop a positive working relationship with students, staff, administration, parents and community.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Hold a valid Oregon Teaching license
- Knowledge of best instructional practices in teaching technology to middle school students.
- Knowledge of the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of early adolescents.
- Possess knowledge of effective behavior management methods with middle school age students.
- Understands the instructional and assessment requirements necessary to assist our students in reaching the content and performance standards as established by Oregon’s Educational Act For The 21st
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Proficiency in keyboarding and the use of computers and printers
- Knowledge of computer hardware and software applications compatible with the systems used in the computer lab
- Ability to troubleshoot hardware/software problems
- Knowledge of and ability to operate modern office methods, practices, procedures, and equipment, including computer hardware and software as required by specific assignment
- Ability to teach students how to use the Internet resources for researching information
- Instruct and enforce the District Internet Use Policy
- Ability to teach proper and effective keyboarding skills
- Possess knowledge of the key features of current software programs
- Ability to teach key features in the use and application of these current software programs
- Ensures that instructional activities and materials are clearly related to District, school, program, and course goals and objectives
- Provides instruction based on designated instructional materials or develops alternate materials in prescribed District format
- Establishes and maintains an orderly and supportive classroom environment in which students are actively participating and show respect for one another and for the teacher
- Conducts interesting and well-paced classes using a variety of instructional techniques, strategies, and materials appropriate to the lesson.
- Ability to teach the appreciation of and the proper care for all technology equipment
- Ability to teach computer and other technology skills to fellow teachers and other school staff members
- Responsible for reporting computer and technology maintenance requests to the District Technology Administrator
- Responsible for making recommendations regarding technology needs
