TITLE: Athletic Trainer – Extra Duty Assignment
REPORTS TO: High School Associate Principal/Athletic Director
LOCATIONS: Molalla High School and Athletic Venues
(Some travel required to away games/competitions)
DURATION OF JOB:
- Seasonal – Fall, Winter and Spring season support as needed
- Hours and days vary and all hours are after the school day ends
- Anticipated Start Date - ASAP
RATE OF PAY:
Off Campus Hire: Paid each season in accordance with the MREA 2024-2025 Extra Duty Schedule/High School Activities depending on experience.
JOB GOAL: Under the direction of the Associate Principal/Athletic Director, the Athletic Trainer is responsible for performing a variety of duties associated with ensuring that student athletes receive the required observation, treatment and rehabilitation for injuries sustained in the course of their participation in athletic practices and athletic competitions.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this extra duty assignment successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily:
- Ability to work harmoniously with others, exhibiting strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively (both orally and in writing) with students, coaches and parents/caretakers.
- Possess a high level of attention to detail to maintain accurate records and complete required reports.
- Ability to independently resolve issues related to student athlete injuries in real time using a high level of critical thinking, problem solving and decision-making skills.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to use computer (email and internet) to communicate with others as needed.
- In alignment with the Ideal Athletic Program, possess a strong commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion in all athletic programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide athletic training support for MHS athletic teams, including covering practices and competitions as needed.
- Assess athlete injuries in real time and determine next steps related to emergency response and/or administer first aid until appropriate medical assistance can be obtained.
- Advise and treat student athletes to maintain physical fitness for participation in athletic competition.
- Provide daily treatment of student athletes for injuries and rehabilitation.
- Evaluate athletes' physical condition, response, and progress, and discuss with appropriate Head Coaches.
- Record and maintain appropriate medical records for treatments provided.
- Perform all other related duties as assigned.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:
- Possess and maintain a valid Oregon Drivers’ License
- CPR and first aid certification.
- NFHS sports certifications necessary for the position and the desire and ability to maintain them and to complete additional sports medicine certifications as deemed necessary for the position.
