Position Serves Molalla High School

                                           

JOB GOAL: The goal of the Graduation Coach is to monitor student academic progress and create appropriate interventions to support identified students. This will include partnering with internal and outside agencies, families, staff, and administration to help students move towards high school graduation. This position requires a high level of interaction with students and all stakeholders.

 

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must have the:

 

Ability to: communicate effectively both orally and in writing in English; organize and prioritize work to accomplish tasks timely and effectively; relate to students with a wide variety of academic and technical skills; work in an environment with frequent interruptions and changing tasks and priorities; assist, console, and manage students who may be emotional, distraught, or frustrated; work collaboratively with staff, students, parents, volunteers and community members and remain calm, focused and in control when working in challenging situations with them; follow written and verbal directions; review and analyze data and make decisions based on the information; take initiative to seek clarity and/or take action when needed; maintain confidentiality of student information;

 

Skills to: use standard computer software including Microsoft Office Word and Excel, email, internet, and student information systems; effectively work with others and manage interpersonal relationships; manage time and organize tasks; support student academic growth;

 

Knowledge of: child development and growth; academic supports to be provided to identified students; social-emotional supports; high school graduation requirements;

 

Desired qualifications include three years’ related experience in a school setting; bilingual and bicultural skills (English & Spanish); knowledge/training in a university teacher preparation program;

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.

  1. Work collaboratively by assisting teachers in assessment, curriculum implementation, student interactions, enforcing safe behaviors, and enhancing social and academic growth of students in the classroom.
  2. Work collaboratively with school counselors and other support staff to identify credit deficient students and implement plans to move those students towards high school graduation.
  1. Provide instructional support and tutoring to students in large groups, small groups, and one-on-one situations.
  2. Compile data regarding academic progress, attendance, behavior, and social-emotional needs relevant to the target student population.
  3. Research student and family circumstances and history of student academic progress.
  4. Serve as primary intervention resource and team member for student support programs (9th grade success team, attendance team, counselors, 504, homeless liaison, etc.)
  5. Partner with classroom teachers on specific academic content and support that will be provided to target students.
  6. Appropriately respond to inquiries and concerns from staff, students, and parents regarding student academic progress.
  7. Communicate with students, parents, and community members with respect and confidentiality and consistent with the direction and guidance of staff, administrators, and school/district policies and procedures.
  8. Document academic progress of students to assist teachers in assessing progress with education plans. Maintain, or assist in maintaining, regular progress reports.
  9. Assist teachers and other staff, as needed, in meeting curriculum goals
  10. Attend required meetings and trainings

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:

  1. High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED)
  2. Possess and maintain a valid First Aid/CPR card
  3. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
  4. Valid OR drivers’ license

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and hours to follow the school year and daily school schedule, with salary according to current schedule.

 

EVALUATION: Following the probationary period, performance of this job will be evaluated

annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation of classified personnel.

 

Molalla River School District requires all staff to be fully vaccinated effective October 18, 2021 unless a religious or medical exception is approved.  New employees must provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination at the time of hire.
