Lead Custodian - Night

8 hours per day/Mon-Fri/260 days

Postition serves Molalla High School

JOB GOAL: To assist the Head Custodian in overseeing the school physical plant and grounds to ensure their cleanliness, safety, well maintained, and provide a positive learning environment for students and to supervise the night crew.

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to execute each requirement satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability needed for the position.

1. High School Diploma or equivalent as required by OAR 581-37-030, Oregon Department of Education

2. Two years experience in school custodial work
3. 18 years of age or older
4. Ability to work harmoniously with others and to communicate effectively (both orally and

in writing) with students, parents, and teachers

5. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
6. Ability to maintain confidentiality
7. Possess supervisory skills, ability to train, schedule and supervise custodial staff and substitutes
8. Knowledge of materials, methods, and equipment used in building service work
9. Ability to supervise the night custodians and serve as a back up to supervisory responsibilities of the head custodian
10. Familiarity with handling of and disposal of hazardous materials, ability to use cleaning materials and equipment with skill, efficiently, and safety
11. Ability to supervise or perform light maintenance and repairs (i.e., plumbing, carpentry, painting, etc.)
12. Ability to work independently, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines, while maintaining schedules

and attending to details

14. Perform physical requirements which may include:
15. Moderate to extensive degree of physical stamina and frequent lifting up to 50 Ibs. and occasional lifting up to 100 lbs.
16. Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, bending
17. Exposure to conditions where heating, cooling, and ventilation may be inadequate at times
18. May require exposure to chemicals and the possibility of electrical shock
19. Ability to operate buffers, scrubbers, vacuum cleaners, lawn mowers, and other equipment
20. Ability to climb ladders, stretch and bend to perform cleaning, repairs, painting, cleaning roof, gutters, and drains
21. Possible exposure to bodily fluids in cleaning due to student illness or injury
22. Such alternative to the above requirements as the School Board or the Administration may deem appropriate and acceptable.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: include the following. Other duties may also be assigned.

1. Supervise night custodians and perform essential duties of custodians, sweeping, dusting, mopping, buffing, scrubbing, sanitizing, vacuuming, etc.
2. Supervise and perform light maintenance and repairs, plumbing, carpentry, painting, replacing light bulbs, moving furniture and materials, etc.
3. Prepare work schedules and insure the work is completed on time, is in accordance with instructions and meets district standards
4. Assume responsibility for the daily closing of school facilities
5. Provide training in safety, use of hazardous materials, use of equipment and custodial methodology, etc.
6. Confer with the head custodian regarding care and cleaning programs for the school building
7. Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality when dealing with student and

staff information

8. Participate in in-service programs as assigned
9. Possess capabilities required by the custodian position
10. Know safe procedures for working around asbestos
11. Perform such other tasks (which may require knowledge of other job descriptions) as may seem to be appropriate to the Board or Administration.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS, BONDING, AND/OR TESTING REQUIRED:

1. Must possess and maintain a valid First Aid card
2. Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
3. Valid Oregon Driver's License
4. Limited Maintenance Industrial/Electrical License (preferred)
